The Macintosh arrived in 1984 with a mouse, icons, and menus — an invitation to point, click, and create instead of memorizing commands. Built by a remarkable team at Apple, it helped make personal computing feel more approachable.
When Jobs introduced the iPhone in 2007, calls, music, email, the web, and maps came together in one handheld device. Its multi-touch screen put useful tools within reach, wherever the day took us. The lasting inspiration: care deeply about how technology feels to the person using it.

Bill Gates
Born 1955Useful software. Everyday possibility.
Windows 1.0 launched in 1985 with a mouse-driven interface and familiar tools such as Paint, Notepad, and a calendar. Gates and the wider Microsoft team helped develop a software ecosystem that, alongside hardware makers and developers, brought personal computers into everyday work and creativity.
Accessibility is part of that story too. Windows XP included Magnifier, Narrator, and support for assistive technologies, with input from the disability community. Technology becomes more meaningful when more people can use it — to learn, communicate, create, and take part.
